Watauga Humane Society is interested in engaging a licensed veterinarian to work part time, five days a week, in the Watauga Humane Society Adoption and Education Center located in Boone, to make a difference in the lives of our animals. A passion for shelter medicine and the welfare of homeless and abused animals is required. Familiarity with the needs and challenges posed by an animal welfare environment would be helpful. Duties would include disease prevention and preventative work, as well as regular monitoring of the health of our animals and treatment of the many diseases and injuries common to homeless, neglected and abused animals. This would be a fantastic position for a retired veterinarian who wishes to work part time without the responsibilities of managing a veterinary practice.
