Volunteer Opportunities
The animals at Watauga Humane Society are fortunate to have an abundance of volunteers who want to walk dogs and hang out in the cat room. A volunteer who spends time with an animal provides countless benefits to the animal; most importantly, it helps to keep them happy. We appreciate everyone who volunteers at our shelter.
We often have groups of people come and visit our shelter to walk dogs and play with the cats in our cat rooms. If you have a group that would like to visit, please call us in advance so we will know to expect you.
We also need a volunteer base of people who are willing to foster very young puppies and kittens until they are ready for adoption who we can call upon in times of need. Think you're interested in serving as a foster family?
There are countless volunteer opportunities with the Watauga Humane Society. Many things that we need help with require no direct contact with animals such as serving on one of our committees, helping with administration work, working on fundraising projects or helping out at the Dog Park. Some of our shelter-specific volunteer jobs include:
If you'd like to help out with any of these shelter chores, please come by the Watauga Humane Society and let us know you'd like to volunteer! Remember to wear your oldest clothes and shoes whenever you volunteer at the shelter! You must be age 16 or more to volunteer without a parent or guardian.
If you would like to join a committee or work on administrative tasks, call the Watauga Humane Society at 828.264.7865.
