Our Mission

The purpose of the Watauga Humane Society is the prevention of cruelty to animals, the relief of suffering among animals and the extension of humane education.

The Watauga Humane Society's activities are heavily concentrated on reducing the number of unwanted animals.

It is the duty of the Watauga Humane Society to provide humane care and treatment for all animals needing protection; to seek to return lost animals to their guardians.

Watauga Humane Society greatly appreciates donations so we can keep helping pets and owners. Donations can be paid at the shelter, online via PayPal, or mailed to Watauga Humane Society, 200 Casey Lane, Boone, NC, 28607.

Alert! Due to construction of the new high school in Boone, the Watauga Humane Society Animal Shelter on 200 Casey Lane may be entered only from New River Hills (formerly Charlie Hollar Road) off Hwy 421. This road is near the intersection of Bamboo Road and Hwy 421.
